Division 293 tax calculator
The extra tax on concessional super contributions for high incomes, from the ATO threshold and rate.
Division 293 tax is an extra 15% on concessional super contributions for people whose income plus those contributions is above $250,000. It is charged on the excess over the threshold or the contributions, whichever is less. In the ATO's example, income of $240,000 plus contributions of $15,000 is $5,000 over the threshold, so the tax is $750.

What counts as income
Income for Division 293 purposes is based on the income used for the Medicare levy surcharge: taxable income, reportable fringe benefits, net financial investment loss, net rental property loss and the net amount on which family trust distribution tax was paid, less certain super lump sums and first home super saver amounts. The ATO works out the tax after you lodge your return and sends a notice.
